The postseason opened with plenty of drama Tuesday night as the Wellsboro Hornets battled past the North Penn-Mansfield Tigers, escaping with a hard-fought 45–42 victory in the opening round of the district basketball playoffs.

On Wednesday January 14 the Wellsboro Lady hornets hosted the Troy lady Trojans on the basketball court. Troy commanded the entire game with shutout defense holding Wellsboro to 0 points until 2 mins in the second taking the victory 45-16.

The Troy Trojans and Wellsboro Hornets delivered everything fans could ask for Tuesday night, trading momentum, big shots and defensive stops in a tightly contested varsity basketball matchup that stayed undecided until the final seconds. When the dust settled, it was Wellsboro escaping with a hard-fought 68–63 road victory over Troy.
