Wellsboro Invites Everyone To This Winter Celebration

by Sara Vogt - February 6, 2024

Julie Henry of the Wellsboro Chamber entered the Home Page studios to discuss Wellsboro’s Winter Celebration on Saturday, February 10th.

This celebration is an excellent opportunity to shop at local stores while visiting our beautiful town. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so there will be plenty of gift ideas for the whole family.

On the 10th, you can see four ice sculptors take shape at four different locations. See if you and your children can determine where the parrot, dolphin, sea horse, and rearing horse are. Fun for the whole family!

There will be 14 Chili and Chowder locations with a Taste of Chocolate for you to taste, smell, and enjoy the wonderful aroma! A $10 passport is required to do the tasting! The passport has 14 locations, and after you have tried them all, list your favorite top three on the passport and drop them off at one of the locations for the judging to be done. All proceeds from this event go to support Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries. Second Chance is a no-kill organization funded entirely from donations and fundraisers.

If there is snow, Parks and Recreations will be offering activities on the Green.

On Sunday, starting at 9:00 am, the Mt. Tom Challenge is presented by the American Trail Running Association. A brief description on their website says. ‘ Climb (or scramble, some might say) up the 1100′ vertical feet of trail from the Ansonia valley to the summit vista of Mt. Tom with views into the PA Grand Canyon and to the west nearly to Galeton. After catching your breath and those awesome views, continue a short distance along the ridge before descending most of the way back on a grassy (or more snowy this time of year) forest road. Reach the tent at the bottom before 11 am, and YOU GET TO DO IT AGAIN!!! How many laps can you do in two hours?
