Shortly after waving his final goodbye to the students, Elementary School Principal Mike Wells shared his thoughts. “Very bittersweet. I enjoyed the run here for nine years. It’s been amazing. I worked with amazing staff members, faculty, students and families. Kind of a sad day, but at the same time excited to take my next step. Hopefully they have a safe summer and hopefully the staff does as well.”

“It’s nice to have the Game Commission recognize the years that you’ve put in and it’s a nice moment,” says Route. “In our area, we have guns in in most of the homes, so the reason that I do it here at the school is to make sure that they are aware of firearms and the safety of it. They might not have wanted to be hunters, but they decide to because they look at how it affects the environment and things like that. It’s been a blessing to be able to do this over the years.”

Second Grade teacher Robin Palmer explained, “The students enjoy the competition of it all. They’re very competitive at this age and they like coming up with their own ideas. We watch a few videos and give some examples of what other people have done. They have so much fun just deciding on what they’re going to wrap their egg in.”
