2024 Blossburg State Coal Festival Highlights
Last weekend, Blossburg township held their 32nd annual Coal Festival, celebrating the town’s industrial roots and coal mining history. The event was started in 1992 as a way to bring families together in Blossburg so they can not only recognize the history, but also to showcase what the town as to offer.
“My favorite part is seeing the families come together,” said Annie Brooks, secretary of the Blossburg Coal Festival committee. “We have a lot of people that have moved away and they come back to see their family members that are still here. They spend the weekend in Bloss. We see a lot of family reunions…it’s really nice to see our community come together for something like this.”
Attendees enjoyed a museum displaying historical artifacts and antiques dating back to the town’s coal mining area. Various food vendors, local artisans, bounce houses, games and activities were also stationed around Island Park as part of the festivities.
