Meet the Candidates: Miss Wellsboro & Miss North Penn-Liberty
This week, our community is abuzz with excitement as we gear up for the 82nd Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival, a unique celebration that unites us all. From June 8th to June 16th, we’ll be immersed in a rich tapestry of cultural events, pageantry, and community spirit.
This broadcast is part one of a three-part series highlighting five of the thirty queen candidates competing to be crowned the 2024 Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival Queen.
In part one, we will meet Miss Wellsboro, Isobel Anderegg, and Miss Liberty, Tierney Patterson. Both women are passionate about supporting their schools and communities. In the video presentation, they share their hearts for being a part of this upcoming weekend. They both stressed their desire to see us communicate in a caring manner while living out our goals. It seems a common theme for us to dialogue more respectfully.
Their schedule for this coming weekend is full! One opportunity to see the queen candidates is Friday at noon when they will be welcomed on the steps of the Wellsboro Courthouse at 118 Main Street. Another opportunity to see the candidates is at 5:00 pm on the outdoor stage of the Deane Center. Of course, you’ll be able to see them as they ride a float for the Laurel Festival Parade, which starts at 2:00 pm on Saturday.
The judges will spend time with the candidates, deciding who will be the 2024 Pennsylvania State Laurel Queen.
The grand finale of our festival is the coronation ceremony, a momentous event that will take place on Saturday at 6:30 pm in the auditorium at the Wellsboro Area School District Administration Building, 227 Nichols St. Our new queen will be crowned, marking the culmination of a week filled with festivities. Coronation tickets are available at the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce office at 114 Main St., Wellsboro, and at the auditorium’s door.
A special note from Miss Liberty, Tierney Patterson:
Having a big family, I always loved being involved in so many community activities. Since first grade, I have dreamed of being able to become Miss Liberty to represent my school at the Laurel Festival. I feel that any school representative or Laurel Queen should be proud to be herself, always respectful, mindful of her image, and a role model that teaches others to be the best person they can be. Never be afraid to challenge yourself and create goals. Opening up your mind to new challenges leads you to opportunities you weren’t aware you could achieve. If I hadn’t pushed myself to be the best person I can be, I may not have the opportunities I have received, like being class valedictorian and Miss North Penn Liberty at the Laurel Festival.
A special note from Miss Wellsboro, Isobel Anderegg:
I have one younger sister, Piper, with whom I am very close. I have been a member of the Hornet track and field and swim teams for three years throughout high school and a volleyball team member for two years. I have been involved with the Connectors program for three years and the National Honor Society for two years. In my spare time, I can be found at swim practice, working out, babysitting, lifeguarding, teaching swim lessons, or spending time with friends and family. I am honored to be this year’s Miss Wellsboro and am excited to represent my community. I will be attending Alfred University in the fall, majoring in psychology, and continuing my swimming career as a part of Saxon’s varsity women’s swimming and diving team.
Isobel Anderegg is the daughter of John and Anne Anderegg.
