Saddle Up For The Kindergarten Round-Up!

by Johnathan Morgan - May 16, 2024

Canton Elementary held the annual Kindergarten play on Tuesday, May 14th to a gymnasium full of supportive family, who enjoyed watching their children perform. This year’s play was “Kindergarten Round-Up,” complete with hay stacks, cowboy hats, barn decor, and even a horse for decorations provided by Melody Kitchen. The students in Mr. Kitchen, Mrs. Roupp, and Mrs. Wile’s classes dressed the part as adorable little cowboys and cowgirls, boots and hats aplenty. Parents and family members were welcomed by Layla Schrader and Ember-Lynn Kelley before being treated to “Home on the Range” for the opening song. The talented kindergarten class performed ten songs and dances during the show, including “Cotton Eyed Joe,” “You Are My Sunshine,” “Happy Trails To You,” and even picked up some square dancing moves too.
Mr. Kitchen remarks, “When we were kids, we did square dancing in school and a lot of [the students] didn’t know what that was.”
Home Page would like to give a special thank you to all of the individuals who made this event happen, including Mr. Kitchen, Mrs. Kitchen, Mrs. Wile for providing piano accompaniment, Kindergarten aides Mrs. Shepard and Mrs. Spencer, the CASD Maintenance, Tech Support, and Administrative teams, and parents and families for supporting their children in this positive manner.
