Movin’ Together – Venture to Barbour Rock

by Sara Vogt - May 29, 2024

On this Movin’ Together adventure, we ventured out to the PA Grand Canyon, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking beauty of the Barbour Rock Trail. Led by the knowledgeable Jennie Lusk, the owner of Wild Asaph Outfitters, we embarked on a journey that was as thrilling as it was awe-inspiring.

Take advantage of the opportunity to win some truly incredible prizes! By staying engaged with our content until the end, you’ll discover how to secure a valuable gift certificate to Jennie’s store and gift certificates for the delicious Painterland Sisters Yogurt. This energizing treat is the perfect companion for your outdoor escapades. Plus, as a bonus for your engagement, you’ll get to enjoy a stunning video showcasing the beauty of PA on a perfect day!

The Barbour Rock Trail is about a mile long, going out and back. (1 and 1/4 mile) There, you will have the option to take the blue-blazed and accessible widened stone trail that veers right or take the yellow-blazed trail on the left. If you take the blue-blazed trail, you’ll follow the path until you reach the overlook. If you take the yellow-blazed trail, you will again come upon another fork. Either way, it will take you to the overlook, and if you like, you can take the other way back for a different perspective! The official overlook has a fence and a bench. There are also several non-official lookouts along the trails – one just to the left of the official overlook along the yellow-blazed trail and others along the blue-blazed trail. Remember to stay watchful, especially if you take the yellow-blazed trail, and watch out for the stumps and differences in the woods’ floor.

In the video Jennie tells us how stepping outside benefits us.

When you step into Jennie’s store, you’ll receive information that may concern you about stepping outside. Sometimes, we need clear directions to where we are going so we feel confident about going out. Other times, your questions may be about what to take or wear to make this a successful outing. At Wild Asaph Outfitters, they specialize in helping you find the answers you need!
