Endless Mountain Music Festival Begins, July 19th

by Sara Vogt - July 19, 2024

Endless Mountain Music Festival starts its concert series this Friday night, July 19, at the Steadman Theater at Mansfield University. Their Artistic Director, Maestro Stephen Gunzenhauser, came to the Home Page Studios to discuss the series with Home Page Executive Vice President Sara Vogt.

On Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the Steadman Theatre, the orchestra will perform Opening Night Fireworks with Back Suite Number Three, Creston Dance Overture, Cowell Sympaahny no 13, and Boyer PA PREMIER of Rhapsody in Red, White, and Blue. Jeffrey Biegel will be playing the piano for this piece. An orchestra will play the Rhapsody in Red, White, and Blue in all fifty states.

On Saturday, July 20, the orchestra will perform Rapsody in Blue, or Happy Birthday Gershwin, to celebrate the song’s 100th anniversary. It premiered on February 12, 1924, as part of bandleader Paul Whiteman’s “An Experiment in Modern Music” concert at New York’s Aeolian Concert Hall.

This series of concerts will delight your heart with the musicians’ expertise—seventeen concerts in seventeen days. The performances are in many different styles, from full orchestra to string quartets! The concerts will be held at the Steadman Theatre, the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York, the Deane Center, the Gmeiner Cultural Center, and the Penn Wells Hotel in Wellsboro.

Stephen also mentioned that he had written a book covering over forty years in the music business entitled Travels With Stephen; the subtitle is The Most Famous Unknown Conductor.
