Movin’ Together – the Tool of Thanks

by Sara Vogt - ACE certified trainer - November 9, 2023

While on a trip, I left my glass windchime on the back porch. Usually, when I go away, I take it down because of the wind on the hill where I live. This past time, I forgot, and to my sadness of heart, I found the windchime in multiple pieces upon returning home. At first, I was going to throw it away, but then I thought to call Kathleen Schnell at Cottage Glassworks, where I had made it. Maybe she will know what to do with the broken pieces.

I called Kathleen the following day, and she said she could bring beauty out of brokenness. The process is called “vitrigraph.” So I went out to the shop, and she put the broken pieces into a clay pot for a new work of art. I was very thankful that she could use the glass! Please view the video on this broadcast to see the picture of a vitrigraph.

Our tool of thanks encourages us to approach life with a grateful attitude toward one another. When we express gratefulness and receive the same, our brain releases dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. These crucial neurotransmitters are responsible for our emotions and make us feel ‘good.’ The benefits of grateful thinking are changes in attentiveness, energy, enthusiasm, better sleep patterns, and improved immune function.

In Movin’ Together, we value the gift of friendship and feel thankful for these relationships. Kathleen and I have been doing broadcasts together since 2015. We have supported each other through challenging times, talking and praying for one another.

Please take an opportunity to visit Kathleen’s shop through her website at cottageglassworks.com or contact her by calling 570-948-9007 or texing at 570-948-1407. You, too, can enjoy Kathleen’s unique glass-creating talent by bringing one of her pieces into your home.

Then, overall, we improve mentally, socially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually when we become purposeful about living with an attitude of thanksgiving! Stay on target for loving and caring for your family.

Thanks for joining us on Movin’ Together; we hope your Thanksgiving time with family and friends is filled with peace, love, and joy.

The following are some of Kathleen’s shared thoughts:
“I see design ideas, color combinations, & textures that inspire me everyday, in most everything I do. The Vitrigraph elements I pull in my studio excite me; at times I am compelled to immediately create. God has blessed me with this focus and I enjoy sharing it. I have pitched a tent and sold my glass on the road at shows, taught classes and done local gallery exhibits. I love the science of creating with fused glass and studying new processes; this will be my focus next year and we’ll see where God may lead me…”
