You. Are. Loved.

by Glen Hallead - March 10, 2023

I AM SOOOOO BLESSED!

When the children were young we developed something of a habit of “blessing them.” On occasion, for no special reason I would randomly as them, “are you my son?” or “are you my daughter?” They would sheepishly reply, “Dad!” because they knew what was coming. And I’d repeat the question, “are you my daughter?” or “are you my son?” and they would replay, yes, dad. And I would shout with great adulation “I AM SO BLESSED!”

We wanted to make the feel important. We wanted to make them feel loved. We felt it was essential that they knew they were loved. No matter what.

It was also important for us to convey to them our faith that they were also beloved of God, God’s children, created, redeemed and cherished by God Almighty.

Peter wrote words of encouragement, to the follower of Christ who had been scattered because of persecution He reminds them that they have been chosen by God. He knew what their troubles would be, their imperfections, their sins, and he chose them anyway.

That’s the amazing thing about being in Christ, being a new creation, being born again. God’s grace is multiplied. His peace increases. Nothing can stand against it.

Are you looking for the kind of peace which enables you to stand firm while being attacked; the kind of peace which endeavors to see beyond the hatred and accusations of the culture in which we exist? Come to Jesus, who freely gives.

If you’d like to talk, you can email me at glen@bythedoor.org.
