YMCA Hosting Day Camp

by Johanna Vogt - June 2, 2021

The Tioga County YMCA is hosting a day camp for children of all ages! Around the World with the YMCA will take your children to a different country each of the ten weeks where they can learn about the food, culture, and lifestyle. The camp will last from June 14th to August 20th. Each week will include a field trip, swimming, outdoor and gym games, STEM-based activities, and free breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Every Wednesday, the field trips will take place where the campers can venture to Penn’s Cave & Wildlife Park sponsored by Laurel Health, The Victoria Theatre sponsored by Big Foot Radio, and many others.

Parents can register by picking up an application from the YMCA, emailing Childcare Director Chelsea Smith, or locating it on the Tioga County YMCA website. Once the application is filled out, parents can either bring it back to the YMCA or email it to Chelsea Smith.

The camp is for ages 5-12 years old and will be $110 per week with a $110 activity/swim fee if the camper is coming for the entire summer. If the camper is coming for three or fewer weeks, the activity/swim fee is $35. For new families, there is also a $10 new family registration fee. For children ages 13-15, the camp is providing counselor-in-training positions for $55 each week. Those that are in training positions will have many responsibilities and training in being a camp counselor. The YMCA also offers scholarships for families for which they can apply in the registration packet. The parent(s) will need to complete that section of the form and provide financial proof to see what scholarships they are eligible for.

If anyone has any questions or wants to register, they can contact Chelsea Smith at 570-662-2999 or chelseasg@rvrymca.org. Parents can also locate the Tioga County YMCA website at www.rvrymca.org.
