Where Are The Totally Ninja Raccoons?

Where Are The Totally Ninja Raccoons?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - June 30, 2021

Where are the Totally Ninja Raccoons? Those funny raccoons will be hiding in 25 area businesses for the entire month of July, beginning Thursday, July 1.

Every July for seven straight years, From My Shelf Books & Gifts at 7 East Avenue in Wellsboro had hosted the Candlewick Press search for Where’s Waldo, the publisher’s iconic cartoon character. Due to Covid-19, Candlewick canceled the hunts last year (2020) and this year (2021).

In response, the local bookstore owned by author Kevin Coolidge is hosting the “Where Are the Totally Ninja Raccoons” for the second year in a row. The hunt is based on Coolidge’s “Totally Ninja Raccoon” action series for 7 to 10 year-old reluctant readers. The series is about three raccoon brothers who become ninjas.

The 2021 search for the three brothers starts on July 1 at 9 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. on July 31. This event gives both locals and tourists of all ages an opportunity to play.

Each participating business will have free passports, listing all the businesses where searchers can find the Ninja Raccoons. When a customer spots the raccoons, the business will stamp or sign the passport.

All passports must be turned in at From My Shelf Books & Gifts no later than 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 31 to be eligible for prizes.

“Visiting kids sometimes worry about not having time to search at all 25 businesses.” said Kasey Coolidge, manager of From My Shelf Books. “We reassure them that everyone who plays has a chance to win prizes sponsored by the participating businesses,” she said.

“At each place the Totally Ninja Raccoons are found, the participant’s passport must be signed or stamped in order for his or her tickets to be placed in the prize jar,” said Kasey. “We will draw for prizes live at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1 via our From My Shelf Books & Gifts Facebook page.” Winners need not be present to win.

Prizes include gift certificates and items donated by participating businesses, a variety of books, and Wellsboro Chamber Bucks.

From July 1 through 31, the Ninja Raccoons will be hiding in businesses located in Wellsboro and surrounding townships. They include: Café 1905 and Dunham’s Department Store, both at 45 Main Street; C.S. Sports at 81 Main Street; Farmer’s Daughters at 11719 US-6 (Route 6); Frog Hut at 132 Tioga Street; From My Shelf Books & Gifts and author Kevin Coolidge, both at 7 East Avenue; Garrison’s Clothing at 89 Main Street; Highland Chocolates at 82 Main Street; In My Shoes at 85 Main Street, Karen’s Country Store at 15 Main Street, Kelly’s Canyon Country Crafts at 5 East Avenue; Krout’s Creations at 5 East Avenue; Moore’s Sports Center at 36 Plaza Lane; The Native Bagel at 1 Central Avenue; Omi of the Canyon at 4181 Route 660; Pag-Omar Farms Market at 222 Butler Road; StacyKay’s Café at 17 Charleston Street, Tioga Office Products at 96 East Avenue; Tony’s Italian Cuisine at 3 Main Street; Wellsboro Creamery at 17 Main Street; Wellsboro House Restaurant & Brewery at 34 Charleston Street; Wellsboro Mini Mall at 5 East Avenue; Wild Asaph Outfitters at 71 Main Street and the Yellow Basket Shop at 2744 PA-660
