What is the purpose of life?
Many teenagers lay in bed wondering what the purpose of life is. As we become older the routines of life dull this essential life question. Are we just a random occurrence on this planet? Are we just to survive and survive as best we can? Or, do we have a higher purpose? Hundreds of years ago a group of scholars gathered to answer questions such as this one.
One document they created led with this critical question: “What is the purpose of life?” Their answer: “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him for ever.” Our hearts are filled with joy as we sense his goodness. Our activities burst with praise when his glory in chiefly in our minds. “When I run the, I feel his pleasure,” the Olympic runner, Eric Liddell, was portrayed to have said in the movie about him. The Apostle said, “For from him and through him and for him are all things to him be the glory forever! Amen (Rom 11:36).”
