What does “church” mean?
The Church is the people called by Jesus to continue Jesus’s work in the world.
The Church is not a building. The Church is a group of people. The people might meet in a building, but the Church is really people, people like you and me.
The Church is called out of the world by Jesus to do his work in the world. Being kind, compassionate, truthful, honest, and, most importantly, telling others about Jesus is what Jesus loves to see his church doing.
The Apostle Peter, said, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9 ESV)
We ought always to be thanking God for the awesome gift of being called into his Church.
Dear Father in Heaven, we thank you for your Church, for calling us out of darkness into your marvelous light. Help us to do the work Jesus calls us to. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
