Wellsboro Golf Season Preview 2018
The 2018 golf season starts today, and the Wellsboro Hornets team are ready to hit the links.
Head Coach: Steve Macensky (4th year, 85-45)
2017 Season Record: 32-9 (29-6 NTL)
Key Returners: Ben Barnett, Brandyn Tuttle
Player to Watch: Ben Barnett, Brandyn Tuttle
Last season the Hornets were a force to be reckoned with at every NTL match. This year, look for the same as Wellsboro brings almost their entire roster back from 2017. Wellsboro only scored one win, which came at their home course at the Tyoga Country Club, but they were runners up in the other eight league matches and took home a 3rd place finish at the District IV AA Championships.
The Hornets bring back senior leaders Ben Barnett and Brandyn Tuttle, who both had excellent 2017 seasons, while juniors Ty Morral, Joseph Propheta, and Dan Mitchell, and sophomore Brock Hamblin had solid performances. These core six will anchor the Hornets as they try to make a run at the 2018 NTL championship.
The Hornets already have one victory under the belts for 2018, taking home 1st place at last week’s Coudersport Invite, led by a round of 79 by Barnett.
