Wellsboro Christmas on Main Street & Holly Jolly Christmas In Blossburg
Across Tioga County, locals and visitors alike enjoyed the festive holiday season with many activities and opportunities to enjoy the beauty and wonder of Christmas.
Christmas on Main Street happened for the 8th year in Wellsboro, celebrating and remembering our history of glass-making during the 1940’s. The Wellsboro Corning Glass plant in Wellsboro made over 90 percent of all of the Christmas ornaments in the world; over 30 shops featured historic ornaments in their windows and countertops.
There were horse-drawn wagon rides, reindeer, live nativity, craft shows, ornament displays, a Victorian house tour, a free Swing class, Swing Dance Night, and Brunch with Santa, to mention a few!
For our second year, Camhats and The Home Page Network sponsored Swing Dance Night with the Starliters Big Band – a 17-piece orchestra to help those in attendance dance the night away! It was a fun night of listening, watching and dancing!
The following businesses gave Camhats and the Home Page Network gift certificates to give away for Swing Dance Night: Dunhams’ Department Store, Beck’s Bistro, Hillstone Farms, Oregon Hill Winery, Infinity by Bec’s Originals, Cutting Edge Nutrition, and Bull’s Family Chiropractic.
The 1940’s panel chose Tracey and Josh Fox as the best dressed for the 1940’s and they won a basket of gifts and hat certificates from Christine A Moore Millinery. (View the video to see them swing dancing).
They picked up their hats the next day at Dunham’s Department Store!
Next year, please join us for the Swing Dance Night and other Christmas activities on Christmas on Main Street.
After a successful first-year event, the streets of Blossburg will celebrated the second year of Holly Jolly Christmas.
The event supported the Blossburg Volunteer Fire Department and offered activities to celebrate the season.
The celebration began on Friday with a tree lighting ceremony, caroling, hot cocoa, and cookies outside Blossburg Memorial Library.
On Saturday, Dec. 9, a Christmas Marketplace lined Main Street with vendors. Numerous performances were held by The FORCE, a baton group, Rhythms Academy of Dance, and First Position Dance Studio. Santa’s Parade of Lights also traveled through town.
After reaching the Firehall, attendees enjoyed storytime with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
