Wellsboro Boys Shutout Galeton, 6-0
The Wellsboro Boys soccer team came away with shutout victory on Wednesday. September 27 as they hosted the Galeton Tigers, 6-0.
With 29 minutes and 33 seconds left in the half, Wellsboro’s Micaiah Fitch dribbled inside the box, sent the ball over center, and Caden Smith sent it off the far post into the back of the net to start Wellsboro on top.
Four minutes later, Wellsboro’s Jacob Abadi collected the ball over center, then dished it outside to an uncovered Fitch. He blasted it near post, upper 90 to put Wellsboro up, 2-0.
With just over 12 minutes left in the first half, Smith scored his second goal of the night off a David Seeling assist, making the score 3-0 Wellsboro going into halftime.
Wellsboro’s Lucas Cuneo received the ball in mid, dribbled up, found Smith for an easy one-two and in for the goal with 27:08 left in the game.
With 16 minutes left on the clock, Wellsboro’s Dillion Boyce switched the ball across the field to Nehemiah Burrous who took the shot high near post, just out of the goalie’s reach. This increased Wellsboro’s lead, 5-0.
Time ticking down, Wellsboro found the net one more time on the night as Lucas Cuneo’s corner kick sailed over midfield directly to Gabe Sprouse’s head. His position was perfect for a header, finishing the night with a shutout victory for Wellsboro, 6-0.
The Wellsboro boys will be back on the field today at home as they host the Towanda Black Knights at 7:00pm.
