Wellsboro Art Club Creates Sunflower Art In Honor of Ukraine

by Sara Vogt - March 10, 2022

Sunflowers, the national flower of Ukraine, have taken center stage among those wanting to support the country. As the Russian invasion of Ukraine has continued displaying sunflowers has become one of the many ways the world is demonstrating solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

The Wellsboro Art Club has joined in this demonstration by displaying sunflower art in the Native Bagel Restaurant. I spoke with Kathleen Schnell, Colleen Krise, and Mary Wise at the restaurant to discuss the wall art of sunflowers.

Please watch the video presentation to see all of the sunflower artwork.

The Wellsboro Art Club meets each Thursday morning from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center at 134 Main Street. They also meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday nights from 6 PM – 8 PM.

Please visit their Facebook page for more information about the Wellsboro Art Club.

For many, sunflowers symbolize happiness, optimism, honesty, longevity, peace, admiration, and devotion. The sunflower possibly surpasses all others in its universal power to bring joy to people. We hope you will join in this beautiful demonstration of love and support for the nation of Ukraine.
