Warriors, Trojans come together for old shoe banquet

by Joseph Carreon - November 11, 2022

TROY – The emotions were high in a room full of pedigree and toughness as Troy and Canton football programs came together for the annual old shoe banquet.

Eddie Keiffer, a Canton and regional football legend in his own right gave the keynote address. Keiffer, reminisced about his days on the gridiron and displayed his love for the game and communities.

“If the coaches asked me to suit and go in, I definitely would,” said Keiffer.

After Keiffer, both Troy Head Coach Jim Smith and Canton Head Coach Tyler Sechrist addressed an emotional room as players coaches and parents of the seniors in attendance are in the final days of their football journey.

Both teams play Saturday, Nov. 12 with Troy hosting Southern Columbia at 1 pm while Canton will travel to Muncy with a 7 pm kick to defend their district title.
