Warrior Wrestling Dominates Wellsboro, 65-3

The Wellsboro Hornets wrestling team hosted the Canton Warriors on Wednesday, December 20.

Canton took an early lead as Levi Vermilya at 107 won by forfeit. At 121, Warrior Lyle Vermilya defeated Gavyn Jelliff by technical fall, earning 5 points. At 127 Canton’s Joe Luner won by forfeit. Canton came out on top again at 133 as Tommy Preston pinned Mason Nowak, putting the Warriors up another 6. At 139, Warrior Carson Rockwell pinned Cole Knapp in 1:55. At 145 Canton’s Cohen Landis pinned Wyatt Kilburn at 1:08. At 152 Holden Ward put up 6 for Canton, pinning Silas Mickey. At 160 Warrior Hudson Ward pinned Jacob Dean in 1:01.
Our Home Page Sports match-up of the night was Wellsboro’s Ryder Bowen vs Canton’s Leland Pepper. After a close three rounds, Bowen won by decision 16-10 at 172.
Canton took three more matches on the night. At 189 Carter Inman pinned Jayden Dumm in 0:55 seconds. At 215 Michael Davis pinned Evan Ingerick in 1:55. And finally, Warrior Mason Harold won by forfeit to end the night with Canton’s commanding victory, 65-3.
The Canton Warriors next league match will be on January 3 at Athens, while the Wellsboro Hornets travel to North Penn-Liberty on January 4th.
