The 2022 Relay for Life event is coming up on Saturday August 27th at 3pm in Wellsboro. Jenn Sporer, the co-chair for the event, joined us in the studio to tell us about this important fundraiser. Jenn explains that Relay for Life is a crucial fundraising effort for the American Cancer Society. Her involvement with the group started several years ago when she was asked to assemble a student team while she was teaching in western PA. When Jenn moved to Tioga county she found an opportunity to volunteer with the local chapter on the planning committee. Jenn highlights that a significant portion of the funds raised by the group and their events stays in Tioga County and is used to help local families affected by cancer.

This year’s Relay for Life event will feature entertainment, games, food, and lots of family fun while also taking time to honor and remember all those who are currently battling or have fought cancer. There are many different ways to get involved in this fundraiser. Jenn suggests visiting the Tioga County Relay For Life website: www.relayforlife.org/tiogacountypa or find them on Facebook to get information on how to register as a relay team, donate money, or become a sponsor. Everyone is welcome to join the Relay for Life event on Saturday August 27th at 3pm on The Green in Wellsboro and take part in the games and enjoy the entertainment and raise money for this important cause.
