Victoria Theatre Reopens

by Amiee Jones - July 21, 2020

During this unique time, it seems social and recreational activities are severely limited. Thankfully, outdoor pastimes are always an option, but there are so many opportunities we are surely missing right now. Not to worry! The Victoria Theatre is coming to the rescue. With adequate regard to safety precautions, the Victoria will have you enjoying the big screen with a bag of popcorn in your lap in no time!

“We booked, between now and October, a collection of films through Universal Studios.” According to Tonya McNamara, the owner of the theatre, they plan to show older movies, as there are not any new movies being released at this time. To incentivize moviegoers even further, the Victoria will be showing these classics free of charge! “My dilemma was: would anybody pay to come to see a movie that they could watch at home?” wondered Tonya. To answer this predicament the Victoria team came up with a donation based showing schedule, and Tonya shared that the public has been very generous with this method. All concessions are available for regular purchase, as well.

Of course, safety is valued in this process, and Tonya spoke to the precautions that the theatre will be implementing during the months to come. There will be hand sanitizer at the entrance for everyone to use, masks will be available for those who do not have their own, and every other row of seating has been blocked off to ensure further distance between patrons. “We’re going by the Governors order of ‘No more than 25 in an indoor space’. That hasn’t been a problem yet,” explained Tonya.

We’re thankful to the Victoria Theatre for serving our local communities so generously and prudently during this tricky time! To see current and upcoming showings, visit the theatre’s website at www.victoriablossburg.com.
