Troy’s season ends against York Catholic in first round of state play
YORK — The Troy Trojans saw their season end on the road against York-Catholic in the first round of the PIAA Class AAA playoffs on Wednesday, March 9.
Troy had no answer for the Irish up tempo style of play falling behind 20-5 after the first quarter. The Second quarter didn’t see much change as the Irish dropped in 18 points to just nine from the Trojans.
Troy didn’t go down without a fight as they scraped and clawed their way to a 19 point quarter in the third but traded baskets with the Irish most of the way and couldn’t get the necessary defensive stops.
Ty Barrett led the way for the Trojans with 24 points. 15 of his 24 came in the third quarter. Ethan Vannoy followed with 10 points and Justice Chimics chipped in with five.
The loss ends the Trojans season and the storied careers of Barrett, Mason Imbt and Ethan Vannoy. The center pieces of the Trojans dominance the last three years. This team will see a lot of change next season. Mostly at the expense of losing Troy’s now all time leading scorer, Barrett, who finishes his high school career with 1984 career points.
