Troy Tramples North Penn-Mansfield, 52-13
The Trojans rolled over the North Penn-Mansfield Panthers on Friday, September 9 at home, claiming an overwhelming victory, 52-13.
The Trojan special teams showed up looking for the end zone as Charles Oldroyd ran the opening kickoff back 90 yards, to put Troy up 7.
A few minutes later Troy’s defense held strong, forcing the Panthers to punt it downfield. Troy’s Camryn Harwick fielded the ball on the 47 yard line and ran it all the way to the endzone to make the score 14-0, Trojans.
After an interception, Troyed smashed their way downfield and Brenden Gilliland took carried the ball for the touchdown, 21-0 with 9 minutes left in the quarter.
Later, Troy advanced down the field again, then from inside the 5 Jackson Taylor crashed his way through the Panthers, 28-0.
Troy trampled down the field once more and with 2 minutes left in the 1st quarter, passing it across the middle for another Gilliland touchdown, making the score 35-0 to end the quarter.
Second quarter, Mason Smith under center called his own number and ran it outside for a 33 yard touchdown, 42-0.
The Trojan defense held strong, but the Panthers finally found some wiggle room late in the second quarter. Karson Dominic found Kale Wagner in the corner of the endzone for a Panther touchdown, making the score 42-6.
Panthers Defense held the Trojans on the next drive, forcing out the field goal team, Trojans 45, Panthers 6 to end the half.
Third quarter – Panthers Cooper Shaw received the ball on the 5 and ran it in for a Panther touchdown, 45-13.
Troy would score once more on the night, making the final score 52-13.
The Trojans will host the Wyalusing Rams at home this Friday, while the Panthers are on the road against Northwest Area.
