Troy Fair Queen Competes for PA Title

by Sherry Lambert - February 1, 2023

TROY – 2022 Troy Fair Queen, Abigail Wrisley, competed the weekend of Jan. 19-21, in Hershey for the prestige title of the 2023 Pennsylvania Fair Queen.
Prior to the competition, Wrisley submitted an application packet containing background information, her resume, a biography and two essays on the topics “What my Fair Means to my Community” and “Why I Want to Be The Next PA Fair Queen.”

Wrisley competed alongside 58 other fair queens from every corner of the state. She went through an extensive competition. During this she did a stage introduction in front of 900 people, completed an interview with a panel of three judges and presented a speech with the topic “Why You Should Come to my Fair”.

Unfortunately, Wrisley did not place in the PA Fair Queen competition. Her Coordinator, Dawcin Jones, stated, “she did a phenomenal job representing the Troy Fair and Bradford County.” Wrisley had a busy but fabulous weekend and had a great time representing the Troy Fair at the state level. She would like to thank the Troy Fair board for providing her with this amazing opportunity.

In July, at the beginning of the 2022 Troy Fair, Wrisley was crowned the Queen for the Troy Fair. She said, “Becoming the 2022 Troy Fair Queen has reminded me how important it is to educate our youth on the importance of agriculture.”

Wrisley is the 18-year-old daughter of Mark and Rebecca Wrisley of Ulster. She is currently a senior at Troy Jr./Sr. High school. She is planning to attend Slippery Rock University for a B.A in Biology.

Look for Wrisley and her court in upcoming events. They will be reading to elementary students at area schools. If you have any upcoming event in which you would like the Troy Fair Queen and her court to attend, please contact Dawcin Jones at (607) 237-8600.
