Today Is National Best Friends Day
In 1935, Congress proclaimed June 8 as National Best Friends Day in the United States to dedicate an entire day to commemorating great friendships. They choose the time of year based on the weather to have get-togethers and outdoor activities together.
You could have met your best friend at school, college, job, through a family member, or even through another friend! Let’s face it, no matter where you meet your best friend, they will always be alongside you when no one else will. A best friend is essential because they will always listen to you whether you are lonely, furious, or disappointed.
We are all born into families, but there is something special when one of your most important family members is chosen. A rare individual who enters your life when you least expect it and seems to know you on such a deep level that you practically become the same person. They can detect if something is wrong or if you are ready to burst out laughing because of something fantastic that has happened by the tiniest shift in your voice. They are the first person who you want to reveal everything. They are the person who unconditionally supports, cherishes, and loves you for you and knows that you are all of the same things for them. Your best friend is an irreplaceable and valued person in your life.
How can you and your Bestie celebrate?
There are numerous ways to commemorate National Best Friends Day. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
– Meet at your favorite coffee shop to spend time together apart from others.
– Get together and go hiking at one of the area’s many state parks.
– Purchase a card to commemorate the occasion and show your buddy how important they are to you.
– Plan pajamas, junk food, and movie night.
The options are truly unlimited but keep in mind that you don’t have to go overboard with the gift or celebration. You know your bestie just as well as they know you. This is one holiday where gift-giving should be simple.
Have a blast with your Bestie today and make sure that they know how much they mean to you.
