Tis the Season Benefits Community
It’s the most wonderful time of the year with music, friends, family, and community!
The fifth annual “Tis the Season” event was held at the Blossburg Elementary Auditorium on December 5th and 6th at 6:30pm. This event brought together some of the incredibly talented people in our community for an exciting musical performance to put you in the holiday spirit!
“It’s the family, hometown environment that we strive to create,” says Bill Faughnan Jr., co-director and organizer. “Everything’s not perfect and polished, but we have fun. It’s supposed to be inviting and community-oriented and that’s what it’s all about – bringing people together.”
Money raised through this event was donated to the Tioga County Homeless Initiative as well as local food pantries.
The Tioga County Homeless Initiative
provides basic amenities and a warm welcome to those experiencing homelessness in Tioga County. Currently, their biggest needs are toiletries, bath towels, pillows, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, trash bags, paper products, and rock salt. To contact them, call (570) 439-9383 or email them at tiogacountyhomelessinitiative@yahoo.com.
The following food pantries were donated to:
Blossburg United Methodist Church – held the third Monday of every month from 10am-12pm and 6pm-7:30pm.
Liberty Lutheran Church – Distribution takes place a week before Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, as well as one time in January. To request an additional time, or to be added to the distribution list, you can reach them at either (570) 324-2607 or (570) 324-6421.
Mansfield Food Pantry – open every Wednesday from 9:30am-12pm, but will be closed December 25th.
“I love the music; I love the interaction with the other performers,” expressed coordinator and vocalist, Wendy Albor. “We become this really cool family, and we can’t wait to do it for the next year. Outside of the performing, I think just being together with everybody and sharing that family, Christmas love is just a cool thing for me. And, what we do it for – the food pantries – it’s a win-win.”
We hope you will continue to support this fun, local event next year, and celebrate the spirit of Christmas through these talented musicians and performers!
