Tioga County COVID-19 Task Force Update

by James Nobles / Roger Bunn - April 3, 2020

From James Nobles

As I’m sure you’re aware, on April 1st, the Governor extended his stay-at-home order to all 67 counties in Pennsylvania. That order went into effect at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 1st.

The Task Force cannot stress enough the importance of strict adherence to the stay at home order. Understanding there are times when you must go out to pick up supplies or attend a necessary medical appointment, these need to be the exception and not the rule.

As I’ve always stated, we will get through this as a community, but it’s going to take an all-hands-on-deck effort. By adhering to the stay at home guidelines, you are not only protecting yourself, but you are doing your part to protect our community. The Task Force is issuing an immediate call to action for all Tioga County residents to please, follow the stay at home guidelines only go out when it is absolutely necessary.

Once again, the task force wants to urge all Tioga County residents to take this stay at home order very seriously. We must deploy any and all weapons in our arsenal to defeat this virus… and we WILL defeat this virus – but we need your help. The number one thing you can do to help in this crisis is to stay at home, observe social distancing if you must go out and above all else… WASH YOUR HANDS!

From Roger Bunn – COMMISSIONERS STATEMENT

The Tioga County Board of Commissioners fully supports Governor Wolf’s State-Wide “stay at home order.” We are very proud of the citizens of Tioga County for the great job they are doing to help neighbors and to prevent the spread of COVID-19. By strictly adhering to these guidelines, we can defeat this enemy before it reaches our hospitals. Let’s all do our part to make Tioga County one of the least affected counties in the state. This does NOT mean that you cannot leave your home for necessary, approved reasons. For a full listing of the Governor’s Guidance, please visit the County Website at TiogaCountyPA.us or the Task Force Facebook at Tioga County COVID-19 Task Force.

We also want to share information to help our more vulnerable populations reduce travel time and exposure time in public places. We want to encourage individuals with prescriptions to take advantage of alternatives that some of our pharmacies are offering.

Bloss Pharmacy will deliver medication to a patient’s car, home, or an approved health friend or family member with patient permission.

Buchanan Brothers Pharmacy offers curbside pick-up and home delivery service to those who are homebound or otherwise unable to travel.

CVS can deliver prescriptions via the US Postal Service in 1-2 days.

Rite Aid Pharmacy in Wellsboro has a drive-thru option.

Weis and Walmart Pharmacies are NOT currently offering delivery or curbside pickup. It is our understanding that they may – in the near future.

The County COVID-19 Taskforce is also working with the Tioga County Partnership for Community Health, and local grocery stores for curbside and home delivery services. We will update you with information as it becomes available.

Our central point of contact for all community services is The Tioga County Partnership for Community Health at (570) 787-5000.

Thank you to the entire community for facing up to this very real threat, with a special Thank You to all those in the Medical Profession, those caring for the “At-Risk Community,” and ALL first responders.
