Happy Birthday, Sara!

From The Vault:
On May 1st our Home Page Vice President, Sara Vogt, celebrated her 65th birthday. Family and friends decided to come together at the Sunflower Restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia to surprise Sara with a special birthday party.
The Sunflower Restaurant was chosen because this is the restaurant where John and Sara spent an entire day back in 2000 praying and seeking God regarding the adoption of their oldest daughter, Johanna Renee Vogt.
John told Sara to put together a list of important things to discuss and that he would do the same. He then told Sara that they would go to her favorite restaurant on that upcoming Saturday and discuss the situation. During their lunch Sara told John that he could go first. He had a list of 37 things to consider. They talked about everything from giving up their retirement to John’s heart situation. Four hours later they were finished with John’s list. As they ordered their second desert John said to Sara, okay – let’s go over your list. Sara opened the paper before her and said, “I only have one question.” John was rather stunned and asked her what it was. Sara responded, “Is God calling us to do this?” Needless to say the answer was yes. That answer brought blessing upon blessing and changed their lives forever. The Sunflower is and always will be holy ground for the Vogt family.
The people who gathered last Sunday to help Sara celebrate are some of the closest and dearest friends we have. They have walked with us through many seasons of life and encouraged our hearts and reflected God’s love to us over and over again. There were some very special friends like Paul Grubb who John and Sara had not seen in over 30 years. Church family from Christian Assembly, former Seven Locks Broadcasting staff members, Home Page Network staff and special friends and family overwhelmed Sara with their kindness making her 65th birthday one that she will never forget.
