The Pop’s Solution: Game Time!
Games are an excellent way to spend time building relationships with family and friends. And winter is the perfect time of year for games! On today’s broadcast, Home Page correspondent Julianna Vogt visits with Julian and Anja Stam of Pop’s Culture Shoppe in Wellsboro to find out more about today’s hottest games for warming up those winter days.
The Stams gave Julianna a mini-tour of Pop’s Culture Shoppe and answered many of her questions about the games. And, we find out about a new game that is becoming a favorite. The new game of the year is Kingdomino from Bruno Cathal which also received Germany’s annual game of the year award, which is the game industry’s best prize. This prize is more or less the Oscars of the board game world!
Do you show people how to play games? Julianna asked, “ we certainly do!” Julian then proceeded to teach Julianna how to play Flip Ships!
The most popular game in the store and the whole world for the past fifteen years has been The Settlers of Catan. This game is an excellent opportunity to tell a story.
How about those mind-bending games? There are many in the store but the one that Anja showed Julianna on today’s broadcast is called Tubyrinth! This game is one that you can play by yourself or with others. You can time yourself to see how fast you can complete the fun puzzle and choose harder ways to play! Check it out by watching today’s feature.
One of Anja’s favorite games is Battle Sheep. This is an excellent game for children through adults! It is quick to play. And, the game board, play, and strategy vary every time, and it is engaging for grown-ups too!
The last game Julianna, Anja and Julian enjoyed playing together involved cute little penguins! It’s called Ice Cool! It is one of the first flicking games with pieces that curve and jump!
Pop’s Culture Shoppe is a fun place for the whole family to enjoy together! Starting on February 9th and running through February 24th the Shoppe will be celebrating the Olympics by scheduling unique games for you to play. Visit Pop’s this February and bring the entire family!
