The Legacy of Keith Lindie

by Jill Nickerson - September 5, 2019

On August 16, 2019, Blossburg Borough Secretary Cheryl Bubacz and Mayor Shane Nickerson were presented with several historical items from the archive of a very special community member. Keith Lindie, who passed away in March of 2017, was know as the historian of Blossburg. His collection of Blossburg’s history including photographs, films, maps, Labor Union metals and even William B. Wilson’s top hat. Keith’s niece Dusty Johnson McMillen and her husband Paul McMillen knew that his work and love for Blossburg needed to be shared.

With the help of Sheila Kasperek, the archivist from Mansfield University, the photographs and films captured by Keith were uploaded. You can find them at archive.org. Dusty and Paul also wanted to thank the community for their support through this process and in particular Bob Metarko, Annette Thompson, Roger Bun, Chuck and Nancy Freeburg, Shane Nickerson, Liz and Moto Modrejewski and the Coal Festival Committee. Other artifacts went to the Morris Run and Blossburg Legions, the VFW and Mason Lodge No. 350. Mike Mumford received several of the World War II films and information to be shared with his students.

Dusty and Paul are hopeful that the history captured by their Uncle Keith will be used for years to come to educate people on the coal region and the many wonderful events in Blossburg.
