The BURNOUT Burrito Challenge
According to the National Day Calendar, National Burrito Day is observed annually on the first Thursday in April. In honor of National Burrito Day, Home Page Sports Director Ed Weaver went to Johnny’z HOT ROD Cafe to be the first person to attempt the Burnout Burrito Challenge.
The Burnout Burrito at Johnny’z HOT ROD Cafe consists of a 13-inch flour tortilla, refried beans, brown rice, black beans, slow roasted beef, pulled pork, crumbled bacon, crumbled tortilla chips, onions, jalapeño peppers, and cheddar jack cheese, topped with Johnny’z “Hottest Ride Sauce.”
For the challenge Ed had 10 minutes to consume the Burnout Burrito with only a bottle of water and two cups of sour cream.
Ed has experienced the Burnout Burrito before, but the challenge version is much spicer than when you order it off the normal menu. In his first-ever food challenge, Ed was able to complete the Burnout Burrito Challenge with 45 seconds to spare to win a Johnny’z HOT ROD Cafe bumper sticker and food glory.
Ed plans on turning this epicurean experience into a new monthly feature on Home Page, so let him know on our Facebook and Twitter accounts which restaurants you’d like to see him visit, or which food challenges you’d like to see him attempt.
And, as always, for real good food, be sure to stop in to Johnny’z HOT ROD Cafe at 17 1/2 Crafton Street, Wellsboro. If you’re feeling brave, we DARE you to take on the Burnout Burrito Challenge!
