The “Best Dressed” Contest – Dickens 2016

A Dickens of a good time! On December 3rd, Wellsboro will be hosting its 33rd Dickens of a Christmas! This year, Wellsboro Home Page is delighted to sponsor the first Best Dressed Contest. There will be two opportunities for you to come and enjoy the Victorian Strolls which take place on Main Street at 10:00 AM and 2:00 AM. All are welcomed to take a step back in time by strolling, watching or capturing the moments! Of course, during the entire day, there will be performers and vendors who will be appropriately costumed and decorated to create a Victorian atmosphere, fun for the entire family!

To register for The 2016 Dickens of a Christmas Best Dressed Contest go to the outdoor performance space of the Deane Center for the Performing Arts located at the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. . Make sure you get your registration number! Weather permitting all are invited to come and watch the judging at 1:00 pm. Home Page’s John Vogt will be the master of ceremonies. The panel of judges will have the daunting task of selecting The Best Dressed for Dickens 2016. Then at 1:45 PM the winner will be announced. The Winner’s Stroll will take place at At 2:00 PM with this years winner leading the event along with several Dickens of a Christmas characters.

The winner will also receive a Longaberger basket filled with wonderful gifts from the local merchants of Wellsboro and a custom made hat from Christine A. Moore Millinery of New York City.

The 2016 Dickens of a Christmas Best Dressed Contest Schedule

Registration: 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon

Registration Location: Outdoor performance space of the Deane Center for the Performing Arts located at the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue. Make sure you get your registration number!

Judging: 1:00 PM

Judging Location: Once again you should return to the outdoor performance space of the Deane Center for the Performing Arts located at the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue.

Winner Announced: 1:45 PM

Announcement Location: The outdoor performance space of the Deane Center for the Performing Arts located at the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue.

Prizes: A custom made hat from Christine A. Moore Millinery. A basket full of gifts from Wellsboro Merchants. (See listing on WellsboroHomePage.com) Dinner for two at the historic Penn Wells Hotel at 6:30 PM. $100.00 cash from Citizens and Northern Bank and another $100.00 cash from First Citizens Community Bank to help with your local Christmas shopping. Winners Stroll: 2:00 PM

The winner’s stroll will be led by this year’s Best Dressed Winner along with a cast of Dickens characters presented by Hamilton Gibson including those famous Fezziwigs!
