The 2017 Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame!

The Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame inducted 13 new members on Saturday, March 25 at their 32nd annual banquet held out at the Tioga County Fairgrounds.

Former athletes from Wellsboro, Mansfield, North Penn, Liberty, Cowanesque Valley, Williamson, and Elkland gathered and shared stories about their playing days and their favorite memories. The event started with sports trivia from Pennsylvania State Representative Matthew E. Baker, recognition of newly deceased Hall of Fame members, an introduction of Tioga County High School honorees, and the induction of the Class of 2017.

The 2017 Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame class includes:

Harry Aldrich – Elkland (basketball)
Russell Brown – Williamson (track & field)
Dan Cevette – Elkland (baseball)
Clarissa Correll Cummings – Mansfield (basketball)
Chris Cummings – Mansfield (track & field)
Laura D’Haene – Williamson (track & field)
Gary Gee – North Penn (wrestling)
Tara Guelig – Wellsboro (track & field)
Roger Heckrote – Liberty (coach/contributor)
Kenneth “Percy” Johnson – North Penn (coach/contributor)
Lewis Schaub – Cowanesque Valley (coach/contributor)
Roy Vargeson – Cowanesque Valley (coach/contributor)
Jim Youdas – Wellsboro (football)

The Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame also honors outstanding high school senior athletes each year in recognition of their contribution to the sports life of the respective schools during the past four years. Being honored in 2017 include:
