Summer Care Packages – Goodies for our Troops
Goodies For Our Troops invites everyone to show your appreciation to our troops by donating goodies and funds and loaning your helping hands at their packaging event for SUMMER CARE PACKAGES on:
~ Friday and Saturday ONLY
~ June 12 and 13 ONLY, 1-5 PM
~ 87 Main at Crafton Street, Wellsboro PA 16901
June will be the 9th year + 12th month, that folks’ generosity and prayers will have made it possible to show our heroes in a concrete way how much their sacrifices for the rest of us are appreciated. On July 17, 18, and 19, we’ll be starting our 11th year!
Dawn Meier, Blue Star Mom, messaged: “Austin got his care package yesterday he was so happy Thank you so much! He said it was interesting how things were hid in other things. He thought at first he had gotten coffee Talk about a boy/20 yr old young man being thrilled! You truly make a difference in this world!!Thank you also to all the volunteers and the donation people! You are truly a blessing!”
Our troops can’t see the yellow ribbons on cars and refrigerator doors but they surely can see their care packages that they’ve received over these past years thanks to so many folks’ generous support. Without help and donations, Goodies For Our Troops could not continue.
Our troops appreciate everything that they receive and this month, particularly needed are eye drops; foot aid products such as foam insoles and foot powder and creams; “To Go” drink straws used to flavor water; coffee (singles, straws, and 1 lb. cans); non-aerosol bug repellent; travel-size Skin-So-Soft and body wash; travel-size wet wipes; granola and power bars; and individual servings of trail mix, sunflower seeds, and nuts. During the summer months, milk chocolate candy bars do not ship well but homemade chocolate chip cookies do, and our troops really enjoy getting homemade fudge, cookies of any kind without nuts, raisins or icing, and marshmallow treats as well as drawings, cards, and letters from kids and adults which remind them of home.
The attached photo from our May packaging event shows Peggy Groff and WW II Battle of the Bulge Veteran Cassius (Cash) Preston who is 98 years old! In May, we had helpers of all ages from a 6-month-old baby who entertained us, 2-year-old little girl who put labels on goodies, to 98-year-old Cash Preston! We always need all the help we can get and appreciate it so much!
Our flyer and mail from our troops are also attached.
Goodies For Our Troops is an IRS 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization so all donations of funds for postage and supplies as well as goodies should be tax deductible. There is no government funding, and there are no paid employees.
