STPR Downgrade Costing The Region Millions Of Dollars In Revenue
Community and business leaders gathered at the Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, August 12th, to speak out on the economic impact of the STPR downgrade.
The event was attended by Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter); Tioga County Commissioners Erick Coolidge and Mark Hamilton; Sen. Cris Dush (R-25); Julie Henry, executive director, Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce; James Monks, STPR chairman; Jerry Curreri, restaurant owner; and Marsha Chesko, former hotel owner.
Community and business leaders in the Wellsboro area discussed their commitment to restoring the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally (STPR) as part of the American Rally Association’s national championship in 2022. Event planners recently announced they had to downgrade this year’s event to an East Regional Championship event due to permitting issues with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). The change will negatively impact the community and rob this region of the opportunity to showcase area forestlands worldwide.
If you have comments or concerns regarding the STPR downgrade impacting our region, you can send them to Representative Clint Owlette at cowlett@pahousegop.com.
