STPR 2016 – Meet David Higgins

Seven-time Rally America champion, David Higgins, returns to STPR 2016

by Morgan Koziar - June 3, 2016

On Thursday night, June 2nd, Home Page Sports had the opportunity to speak with two STPR drivers, rivals & teammates – Travis Pastrana and David Higgins.

Higgins won last year’s event and has been the reigning champion in North America for the past seven years. When asked what he loves about rally racing, Higgins remarked, “You see, it’s the challenge. Like today…it started out dry and then the rain just changed it all in a second and that’s what our sport is all about. It’s the battle of the unknown.”

What drives Higgins’ and Drew’s (his co-driver) success isn’t a craving for attention or a desire to be the best. “I just hate being beat by somebody else,” says Higgins. “It’s absolutely the test that somebody has beaten me or gone faster. That’s where the biggest motivation is for me.”

This isn’t David Higgins’ first appearance on Home Page Sports. For more on Higgins’ success, be sure to check out Sara Vogt’s interview with David at last year’s STPR.

Come out and watch all of the competitors (including Travis) at this year’ Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally, Friday to Saturday starting at 11:30 AM on Friday.
