Stayin’ Cool at the Wellsboro Pool!
School is out, and the kids are always looking for something fun to do during the long, hot, summer days. Cool off this summer with a trip to Packer Pool on Queen Street in Wellsboro. Ranging from a 3-foot section all the way to a 12-foot section, this is one of the only Olympic-sized pools in the area! Bring your sun hats, beach balls, and pool noodles for some family fun in the sun.
Each Sunday from 1:00pm-6:00pm, families are encouraged to come out for “Family Float Sunday,” where they are welcome to bring large rafts and water floats to lay on while in the pool. Kids are even able to hold birthday parties at the pool. The cost is $85 for two hours for up to 20 people. For more information, please contact the pool manager during open swim hours at (570) 724-3650.
If you’d like to learn how to swim or would like to improve various strokes and swimming techniques, sign up for swim lessons during one or both of the offered sessions. The first session begins Monday, June 18th and runs for two weeks on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The second session will begin on Monday, July 2nd and runs for two weeks as well. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced classes are available, and registration can be found at their website here.
The Summer Competitive Swim Team has practices during the month of June and swim meets are held on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Anyone between the ages of 5-18 are welcome to join, as long as they are able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) without stopping or touching the pool bottom. They will learn to improve various strokes such as freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. The registration fee is $40 plus a pool membership. For more information or to register, visit their webpage here.
Kids and adults of all ages are encouraged to enjoy Packer Pool’s facilities from 1:00pm-7:00pm Monday through Friday, and 1:00pm-6:00pm on weekends. Adults are $3.75, students are $3.50, young children using the baby pool are $2.50, and senior citizens (62+) are free. For a family membership, the cost is $149, and for an individual membership the cost is $84. For more information on the pool and other summer programs, please visit this link, or call their office at (570) 724-0300.
