Station 8 Strong – Benefit Event!

by Home Page Staff - August 22, 2019

The community continues to rally around Station 8 of the Lawrenceville Fire Department after a devastating fire took down their station including three fire trucks. A number of citizens as well as organizations like Laurel Health Centers have come to the rescue. Vehicles have been donated by the Knoxville Volunteer Fire Company, South Williamsport Fire Department and the Galeton Fire Department. Ed Damoiseau of Ed’s Mower Shop in Wellsboro along with Joe Druetto have also reached out to help with a special event: the Best “Dam” Rib Showdown!

“This is a community outreach to let those guys know that there’s somebody here in the community that has their back as well as they’ve had ours,” said Damoiseau.

The event is taking place on Sunday, August 25th in the South Shore Recreation Area at Cowanesque Lake, off Route 49. The Colonial Hotel and North Shore Boat Club will face-off with a rib showdown! Attendees can purchase a delicious dinner (starting at 12:00pm) of ribs, salt potatoes, beans, mac & cheese, corn of the cob, coleslaw and dinner roll – for just $15! Proceeds will benefit Station 8 of the Lawrenceville Fire Department.

In addition to dinner, there will be a classic car cruise-in, live music, raffle, and a cornhole tournament! Registration for the tournament starts at 12:00pm. The beanbags will fly at 2:00pm! The entry fee for the cornhole is $40 per team (participants are asked to bring their own partner & bags). 50% of the payout will go towards Station 8.
