Staff Summer Memories: Staying SAFE

by Sara Vogt - July 24, 2023

Summertime is an excellent time to reflect on memories and enjoy the sun with friends and family, but it should also be done SAFELY. Join us as we look back on a broadcast with a paramedic who encourages us to enjoy the summer in a healthy way.

January of 2024 will be Home Page’s 10 year anniversary. As a result, we’d like to spend some time this summer reminiscing. We hope you’ll just us as we look back into our Vault of Treasured Broadcasts to visit memories around Tioga and Bradford counties.

If you have a fond memory with Home Page, we’d love to hear about it! You can email us at contact@thehomepagenetwork.com or leave a comment on any of our Facebook pages.

A note from Sara:
A few days after my interview with Gregg, I was shopping at Dunham’s Department Store and saw a woman having a grand mal seizure. I had just finished my required CPR class, so I was alert to her situation. Thankfully she was sitting on the floor when it happened, so she was safe from falling. I asked someone to call 911 and then turned her over so she could ride out the seizure in a better position. My seven-year-old grandson was standing beside me because he was visiting me then.

When the paramedic arrived, it was Gregg! He helped her with her vitals and then took her in the ambulance to the hospital. I was supposed to go to lunch with my grandson, but he and I both felt nauseous from watching the stressful situation. We went to the toy department at Dunham’s and bought a toy.

As a grandmom, I wondered how to turn this stressful situation for good. Our grandson was worried about the woman, so I was trying to figure out how to help him. I called the hospital, and they permitted us to speak with Gregg. Gregg only said she would be ok, which helped our grandson feel better. Gregg then took him to the ambulance to see how everything worked, and he talked about how important it was to care for others. He told our grandson that he was a brave boy for being there for a woman in need.
