Special Effects Makeup Class
Heather Bohner and one of her many makeup creations
The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is thrilled to be involved in the Wellsboro Comic Con happening on Saturday, August 13th and Sunday, August 14th. As part of this exciting town-wide event, the Gmeiner will be hosting a free special effects makeup class on Saturday, August 13th at 1PM in the Studio. Heather Bohner of Columbia Crossroads will demonstrate how to create a makeup effect that looks like a mask coming off with a Marvel comic character underneath. Students will then have the opportunity to try hands-on contouring and shading techniques on themselves. Heather is a self-taught special effects makeup enthusiast who challenges herself to create a different “look” every day each October. Check the Gmeiner’s website and social media pages for a sampling of some of her amazing work.
This class is open to students ages 10 and up, and is limited to 15 students. The class is free and materials are provided, but participants MUST register with Carrie Heath, the director of the Gmeiner, at (570) 724-1917 or director@gmeinerartculturalcenter.org.
The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is located at 134 Main Street in Wellsboro, behind the Green Free Library. The galleries are open from 12-6PM Tuesday through Sunday. Admission to the galleries is always free.
