Shopping With Slugger

by Home Page Staff - December 23, 2019

The Mansfield Destroyers baseball team makes headlines in December by giving back to our community!

On Saturday, December 21st, the Mansfield Destroyers put an arm around a wonderful family in Tioga County by blessing them with a shopping spree at Walmart. The two children, Hunter and Araina, had the opportunity to shop with Slugger and picked out school supplies, clothing, and items for their personal enjoyment. They also spent some time in the Christmas candy aisle. The Destroyers’ famous mascot, Slugger, not only helped with the shopping but enjoyed handing out candy canes to everyone in the store.

On today’s broadcast, Home Page Correspondent Johanna Vogt talks with the Destroyers’ Owner, Don Lewis, about the importance of family and giving back to the community. Johanna also had the opportunity to speak with Dawn Hull, the Executive Director of the Mansfield Chamber of Commerce, about the event and their support for the Mansfield Destroyers.

At the close of today’s feature, Johanna interviews recipients of the Destroyers’ generosity Hunter, Araina, their mother Janet Dendy, about their time shopping and discovers some of their favorite gifts. Please take a few moments to watch this encouraging broadcast.

Special thanks to the Mansfield Destroyers for setting such an outstanding example of giving back to our community. Events like this encourage the hearts of our citizens and make our region a better place to live. Giving back is such a vital part of establishing a community fabric of loving and caring for each other.
