Senior Expo 2019

Baker honored - Nobles on Serving Seniors!

by John Vogt - August 5, 2019

The Senior Expo for 2019 for the 68th District of Pennsylvania took place on Friday, August 2nd at the Wellsboro High School Auditorium. Thousands of our Senior Citizens attended. The event was hosted by Representative Clint Owlett and his outstanding staff. Seniors throughout the 68th district look forward to getting to together at this event every year to catch up with friends and learn about the latest information essential to Senior Citizens in our region.

At the beginning of this year’s gathering, Representative Owlett began a new tradition by honoring Senior Expo Founder and Director of Health and Human Services, Matt Baker. Mr. Owlett recognized Matt Baker as someone who contributes to the wellbeing and betterment of the people of the 68th District. Owlett went on to say that this will now be an annual tradition at The Senior Expo. Each year the Senior Expo will show honor and appreciation to someone in our community who has faithfully given back for the wellbeing and betterment of Tioga, Bradford and Potter County. The recognition is titled The Matthew E. Baker Community Service Award. Don’t miss today’s broadcast to see the presentation to Matt Baker and hear words of appreciation spoken from the heart by Representative Owlett and County Commissioner Erick Coolidge.

Also on today’s broadcast, Home Page Network Correspondent Josh Nobles talked with Matthew E. Baker, Director of Health & Human Services about the Senior Expo event. Mr. Baker said that over ninety vendors participated this year. Home Page sponsors UPMC Susquehanna, and Laurel Health Centers were available to help answer health care questions.

During the second half of today’s broadcast, Home Page Vice President Sara Vogt visits with the President & CEO of Laurel Health Centers Jim Nobles. Mr. Nobles talks about how Laurel Health is helping Seniors navigate health care in today’s world. Mr. Nobles said that health care coverage and insurance can be very confusing. Lauren Health is ready to help, answering questions about things like insurance, billings, and how a person can get care. Medicare can also be very challenging and difficult to understand. There’s Part A, Part B, and Part D. It all can be very confusing. The caring and professional staff at Laurel Health Centers can help seniors navigate through the maze.

We hope that you will take a few moments to watch today’s broadcast. For more information about the Senior Expo, please contact the offices of State Representative Clint Owlett. The Wellsboro office is 570-724-1390, and the Troy office is 570-297-3045. For health care questions, contact Laurel Health Centers at 833-LAURELHC or UPMC Susquehanna at 570-723-7764.
