This article and broadcast are part two of a three-part Ryan Root’s storyline of Wellsboro’s Glass History. To view part one of Ryan’s story, click the link at the bottom of the writing.
Part Two begins with Ryan Root telling us about his Facebook post in the summer of 2020. In this post, he shared about the ribbon machines that would be scrapped soon. This Facebook post took off with a life of its own. Many commented on it, and there was an interest in the fate of these two machines. On that Facebook post, Ryan said he would rescue them if he had a million dollars!
A couple of weeks later, Skip Cavanaugh, former Senior Equipment Engineer for Osram-Sylvania, called Ryan and said that the ribbon machines were saved and coming home!
Home Page cameras were there on Tuesday, June 16th, 2020. The link for that broadcast is also listed below for your watching enjoyment.
Ryan said he is grateful to (GROW) Growth Resources of Wellsboro and all those who worked behind the scenes to come up with over sixty thousand dollars to save the machines from being scrapped.
Plans include building a museum to preserve and display the ribbon machines in Wellsboro. This endeavor will inspire future generations to follow their dreams and change the world for good
Now that the ribbon machines are back home in Wellsboro, the next phase of the dream is coming alive! Planning and preparing for a Wellsboro Glass Museum under the direction of the non-profit organization – the Wellsboro Glass Historical Association.
We will keep you posted on the progress of this historic undertaking.
Stay tuned for part three of this special broadcast series coming up soon.
