Rookie Cooks Academy Returns For Summer

by John Vogt - May 23, 2023

Rookie Cooks Academy began during Covid as a form of entertainment and dining where people could get together, said Rookie Cooks Academy Owner/Operator Tammy Mengee. The idea turned out to be a great success as people genuinely enjoyed the concept of getting together with friends and family and learning to cook.

Rookie Cooks Academy does all kinds of things in an individual or group setting. Just let them know what you are looking for, and they will do their best to make it happen. They do cast-iron classes, brunch classes, cooking and baking, specialty dishes – anything you want to learn and they will design a course just for you and your group. On this particular broadcast, Rookie Cooks Academy was doing a class on Sushi.

Tammy co-owns Benedict’s Bus Service, and at times the subject would come up as to what she would do if she were not traveling, and culinary was always Tammy’s number one thought. In fact, there have been culinary adventures in places like New Orleans, Chicago, and Chautauqua.
Tammy said these culinary excursions were always a favorite with their Benecict’s passengers. It was something completely different. Out of these successful culinary experiences, Rookie Cooks Academy was born.

At Rookie Cooks Academy, people have the opportunity to learn different cooking techniques from one of the best Chefs in the region, Jamie Fry. The classes are held at 68 Main Street in Wellsboro, PA. This permanent location has been completely gutted and outfitted with all new equipment for the kitchen.

There are a lot of couples and families who love the concept and have signed up for classes. Tammy says that it’s a great date night. It’s different, fun, and delicious. Rookie Cooks Academy has hosted family reunions, Girl Scouts, children’s cooking classes, fundraisers, cooking competitions, and more.

For more information or to sign up for a class, visit www.rookiecooksacademy.com. The Rookie Cooks Academy website will be updated soon with their latest offerings, so be sure to check it out from time to time. You can also call Tammy Mengee at 570-724-5867.

Rookie Cooks Academy is also great fun for out-of-towners. Visit Wellsboro and the great outdoors, see the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, and learn to cook exquisite dishes to take back home. Now, how can you beat that?

If you have a group that wants to come, Rookie Cooks Academy is very accommodating and willing to do whatever you want. Just give them a price point and tell them what you want to learn to cook, and they will make it happen. They are very flexible.
