Rep. Baker Honors Rotary
The following honor was presented to the Wellsboro Rotary Club by State Representative Matt Baker on January 8th:
“Whereas, The House of Representatives of Pennsylvania takes great pleasure in recognizing those organizations which contribute to the benefit of their communities and ultimately to all the citizens of this Commonwealth; and
Whereas, The Rotary Club of Wellsboro is being Honored upon the celebration of its ninetieth anniversary; and
Whereas The Rotary Club of Wellsboro was chartered by Rotary International on January 20, 1925. In addition to sponsoring students to study abroad, the club has contributed to numerous organization in the community, including the Deane Center, the Community Concert Association, Little League baseball, the American Red Cross, the Wellsboro Volunteer Fire Department, the Green Free Public Library and the annual Laurel Festival. The Rotary Club of Wellsboro has also encouraged the growth and support of the youth of Wellsboro by awarding prizes and grants to students for their scholastic and extracurricular achievements. Throughout its history, the Rotary Club of Wellsboro has made inestimable contributions to the welfare of society through a sense of fellowship through its programs, which are designed to enhance the quality of life for all. A succession of dedicated leaders and members has made this possible, keeping ever mindful of the noble maxims if the organization.
Now therefore, the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania congratulates the Rotary Club of Wellsboro upon its well-deserved recognition; offers best wishes for continued growth and success in the years to come;
And directs that a copy of this citation, sponsored by the Honorable Matthew E. Baker on December 29, 2014, be transmitted to the Rotary Club of Wellsboro, PO Box 961, Wellsboro, Pennsylvania 16901”
