Primary Supplier Holding Blood Drives

by Community Blood Bank - April 2, 2015

The Community Blood Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York who is the primary supplier of blood to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Cole Memorial and Jones Memorial Hospital will be holding community blood drives in the area.

The first blood drive will be Monday, April 6 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro from noon until 5 p.m. The second drive will be Tuesday, April 7 at Galeton High School in Galeton from 1:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. This drive is a community service project of the Galeton High National Honors Society and is also open to the public.

Appointments for these drives are not necessary, however anyone wishing to make an appointment can do so by visiting www.fourhearts.org and logging in to the donor portal.

“Every donation can save the lives of three people, and will help support the blood supply at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial, as well other local hospitals throughout Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York” says Lora Cope, regional mobile drive coordinator for the Community Blood Bank.

“This drive comes at a time when we are still recovering from decreased donations during the winter months but continue to see increased use by some of our partner hospitals. As a result, we are urging every eligible donor, and anyone interested in becoming a donor, to come out and support us and their community hospitals at either of these drives”, says Cope.

To be eligible to donate you must have Photo ID, be at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, not have donated in 56 days, and be in good general health. For more information or to find out if you are eligible please visit www.fourhearts.org or call (877) 842-0631.

Community Blood Bank partners with hospitals in Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York to provide blood for patients in need.
