BLOSSBURG, PA — On Friday, April 7, members of the Blossburg community gathered together at FCCB in Blossburg to recognize and honor Paula and Percy Johnson for their many years of service.

Paula Johnson was the head teller at FCCB for 42 years, with April 7th being her last day before retiring. Her husband, Percy, worked for 42 years as Quality Control Auditor for Ward Manufacturing.

Mayor Shane Nickerson presented a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in recognition of their accomplishments and heart for Blossburg.

The couple has been actively volunteering in the Blossburg community their entire lives. Their efforts have included the Boy Scouts, Little League, Chicken BBQ fundraisers and Percy has served as a borough council member.

“First Citizens is a real community hub,” said Mayor Shane Nickerson. “When you come in…Paula is just always there with a smile. Never a bad day. I’m sure she has them, but she hides it well. She’s always there for everybody.”

Mayor Nickerson also commented that gatherings like this and people like Paula and Percy are what make communities so special.

“Community, people think it’s all about the parks you have and the buildings you have. A community can look beautiful on the outside and pretty cold on the inside,” said Nickerson. “Here it’s warm. We take care of each other in Blossburg. These two people are a testament to that.”
