Panthers Blank Indians, 34-0

by Ed Weaver - September 23, 2019

Junior Koleton Roupp scored 4 touchdowns, 2 rushing and 2 receiving, to lead the North Penn-Mansfield Panthers to a 34-0 victory over the Cowanesque Valley Indians at Island Park on Friday, September 20.

The first 12 minutes of Friday’s game were scoreless, then Roupp took over and scored 27 straight points for the Panthers.

Just as the second quarter started Roupp hit pay dirt on a toss sweep that he turned into a 33-yard gain to make it 6-0. Three minutes later on the Panthers’ next drive Roupp scored again, this time on a 19-yard pitch and catch from Colton Litzelman, to push the lead to 13-0 at halftime.

Midway through the third quarter Roupp caught his 2nd touchdown pass from Litzelman, again for 19 yards on the exact play as before, to push the lead to 20-0. Roupp then scored for the final time with 3:48 to go in the quarter, on a 10-yard run to put North Penn-Mansfield up 27-0.

The Panthers’ final score of the game came just under a minute later on a 50-yard run by Kohen Lehman.

Litzelman finished the game 14-for-23 for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns, both to Roupp, to lead the Panthers’ air attack. Roupp rushed 5 times for 63 yards and 2 scores, while Bryan Bogaczyk added 68 yards on 11 carries, and Lehman finished with 45 on 2 carries and a touchdown.

Brandon Thompson caught 5 passes for 95 yards and Roupp hauled in 6 passes for 84 yards.

The win improves the Panthers to 2-3 (2-1 NTL Large School Division. The team is back in action next Friday, September 27 on the road in Wyalusing.
