North Penn-Mansfield & Williamson girls tie 1-1
The North Penn-Mansfield Lady Tigers and Williamson Lady Warriors played to a 1-1 draw in NTL soccer action on Wednesday, September 6.
Williamson got on the scoreboard first as Sierra Earle pushed the ball up the field, then Kirsten Green came up with it and sent a shot into the net in the 21st minute. Later in the 25th minute, Mansfield drew a penalty kick after a foul in the penalty box. The Lady Tigers’ Eva Rice converted the kick attempt to tie the game at 1-1.
The rest of the game was scoreless and ended 1-1 after two overtime periods.
“The team did a great job at creating opportunities to shoot the ball,” said Tiger head coach Maryann Wilcox. “Now, we need to really focus on finishing the ball into the net. The team’s passing game is really starting to develop. Very proud of the effort that was put into the entire game.”
North Penn-Mansfield had 30 shots on goal to Williamson’s 24 and Mansfield edged Williamson 4-2 in corner kicks. Mansfield’s Alaina McKee recorded 23 saves and Williamson’s Keira McCormick made 22 and Mercedes Bailey had 6.
Mansfield is now 0-2-1 on the year, and will be back in action on Monday, September 11 against Troy.
